Model-predictive control of chillers with thermal storage
Using information to create better buildings takes many forms. In addition to consolidating, synthesizing and sharing building information, KGS is working towards a future where monitored data in buildings informs control of highly integrated efficient systems designed to reduce building energy consumption.
KGS collaborates with researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and universities to develop model predictive control algorithms for high efficiency variable speed chillers pre-cooling thermal energy storage systems. These strategies hold the potential for significant energy savings across multiple building types and climates, especially mid-size and small commercial buildings.
